Free RGS webinar, 4 November 2025

At BCP Council, we recognise that it is important that we learn from others. Dr Sally Brown, our Senior Coastal Scientist is organising a panel event about working with nature, hosted by the Royal Geographical Society.

Engineering nature based solutions is challenging as we never fully predict how the environment will behave. As the number of nature based solutions is growing, how will they work in practice and stand up to extreme weather and climate change?

A panel of industry experts discusses a range of reviews across the coastal and estuarine sector to examine the challenges and best practice. We’ll examine nature based solutions and ecological engineering from a range of angles, including their viability in a changing climate, key financials challenges and lessons learnt in implications learning from UK examples and elsewhere. From leaders working in different sectors, we’ll question how well nature based solutions and ecological engineering could fare physical, governance, engineering, financial and economic perspectives.

The online event is open to RGS members and non-members.
